Friday nite!

So last night Rach, Greg, Keith, and I went to downtown.  That was the first time I met Keith and he seemed to be a bit shy at first, but he did finally feel comfortable when we all started taking pics.  Apparently he doesn't like taking pics, but it's perfectly understandable b/c his father is a photographer.
Well if you didn't know by now, every time my friends and I go downtown we take pics by the statues that are around and about.  On every visit we try to find at least one, this time we found two statues.  Idaho Totem Poles was the new statue we found, located by the new pizza place, "Piehole Pizza."  I must admit they had really good pizza, I had the potato bacon alfredo pizza, "mmmmm."  And we also found a recently established statue in front of the capital, Lewis and Clark.
The night was quite interesting, to say the least...you always find interesting characters walking downtown.  C'est la vie! Au revoir mes amis!

Wegener's Disease

This blog is going to be about something that has some importance to me and that I think would be quite useful information.  My cousin was diagnosed with a rare disease known as Wegener's Granulomatosis. I had no idea what this disease was, let alone ever heard of the disease...so I decided to do some research in order to get a better understanding of what she's going through.  What I've found has shed a whole new light on the ordeal that she must endure and I don't know if I would be as strong as she is.  This disease is curable if detected at the right time, but is potentially deadly.

The main cause of the disease is vasculitis, which is inflammation of blood vessels.  This inflammation can lead to major damage to vital organs. It mainly affects the upper respiratory tract such as: the nasal passageway (nasal sinuses), nose, trachea, lungs and the kidneys.

Symptoms include: (WebMD)

  • Persistent runny noses, with sores. Nosebleeds or nasal discharge.
  • Facial and Nasal Pains.
  • Sudden voice change, wheezing, all caused by inflammation of the trachea.
  • Middle ear inflammation, pain, and/or hearing loss

Since my cousin has all these symptoms and must also have some reconstructive surgery on her nasal passageway, she is undergoing chemotherapy.  I wasn't sure what it was going to do, but apparently the chemotherapy is used in order to put the disease in remission and suppress the immune system.  Hopefully the chemotherapy works for my cousin and we'll enjoy her company when she comes to visit us in Christmas.  If you want to learn more about the disease you can visit WebMD, where I obtained all of my information.

WWIII?

I hope that everyone is keeping up with the current world news and not being oblivious to their surroundings.  So my question came from a conversation that my friend Bill and I had earlier at work about a possible WWIII.  Israel and Lebannon are bombing the heck out of each other.  Beirut being the target of explosions from Israel. Then what occurs is a rebuttal from the Lebanese with some nice bombings.  And the most frightening thing about these bombings is the Middle East is on the brink of war.  It's heart breaking to see the ongoing turmoil that occurs everyday in the Middle East.
Japan also fearful of it's neighboring country North Korea.  With Dictator Kim in possession of very powerful weaponry, he is one to fear and not to take likely.  Makes you wonder if this is a foreshadowing of a massive war that we might have to endure during our lifetime.

Awww Beautiful Spring Day

So today I went to work, but luckily it was a short shift...so I took advantage of the moment and went to practice my golf swing.  I've been meaning to go for so long, but just became too fatigued to even try to pick up my clubs.  The day was beautiful with a slight breeze in one's hair accompanied by the sweet chirping of a robin.  Yes I know it sounds a bit cheesy, but hey I just had to let my inner author come out...hehehe.
I had some beautiful swings...especially my driving...I really spanked them out on the green.  But at other times there were just some shots that made me act like a Caddy Shack character (hopefully you've seen that movie...it's a classic golf film).  After golf...I treated my parents to some Carrabba's...yes i paid...they've earned it.

Don't Quit

Here is a lil' food for thought...I got it off my Verse Card Bookmark.  For those of us that are still persuing an education...I know how hard it gets during school, keep your hopes high and you will change the world.

Don't Quit!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will: when the road you're trudging seems all uphill; When the funds are low and the debts are high: And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit-Rest if you must, but don't you quit!  Life is queer with its twists and turns, as every one of us sometimes learns; And many a person turns about, when they might have won had they stuck it out.  Don't give up though the pace seems slow, you may succeed with another blow.  Often the stuggler has given up, when he might have captured the victor's cup: And he learned too late when the night came down, how close he was to the golden crown.  Success is failure turned inside out-so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit.  It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Have to get to bed now...Hasta La Proxima !

Finals Relief 3 Down 3 More to Go

I took my Chemistry exam last night...all I have to say is thank you so so much Latisha, I would have not been able to pass the exam with flying colors.  That exam worried me the most, but now I'm stuck in the Chemistry Department since all the OChem classes are filled.  It is imperative that I take the class this fall, but only time will tell if I will be able to take the course.  Other than that Rach and I had girls nite, we watched this really funny movie, The Importance of Being Earnest.  I also introduced Rach to my favorite French film, Amelie...everytime I watch that film it makes me want to tell my crush that I like him.  I just don't think that he likes me back in that way, only as a friend...I'm okay with that, but if only I could see a sign to know for sure.

Tonight Rach and I are going to go see a concert at The Venue,  I'm so excited to watch James on the stage...he's such an awesome friend.  And I'm exicited to see a cool Indie band, Waking Ashland.  Well hope whom ever is reading this has a great week and if ya have finals, good luck!  Oh here's a funny picture my friend Miguel sent me...cholas are so silly.

Vamo nos...quoi?

My parents finally decided to upgrade to a bigger home...I'm just glad that I'll be able to have more closet space...I know how much clothes can I really have...but you'd be surprised...N-E-Ways...
I'm glad that we're moving to a bigger home, that way we can finally have a room for the gym, instead of in the crowded garage...it wasn't doing us any good in the garage no one did their excercise regimen in there.  The new home is a 3-car garage, which means I'm finally able to park in the driveway...woo hoo for moi...plus Oz will finally be walking distance to MHS...so that means no more "I won't make it to class on time"
Oh if ya haven't heard Merdian Hockey for the second consecutive year are the regional CHAMPIONS...they beat Timberline 3-2 and Oz, my lil' brother made the game winning goal <tear>  This weekend March 3-5 we'll be going to State Championships for hockey, in Idaho Falls...Meridian is automatically in the Rocky Mountain High School District Tournament representing Idaho...and whomever wins the State Championsips also gets to represent Idaho in the Tournament...Hasta La Proxima
